Hypnotherapy For Panic Attacks - How To Stop Panic Attacks With Self-Hypnosis

Tens of thousands of people have found the cure for worry and anxiety through hypnosis. Fortunately you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a professional hypnotherapist. You can use hypnotherapy for panic attacks all by yourself by following these five steps.

1. Get comfortable

The first thing you need to do is get yourself as comfortable as possible, but not to the point where you'll fall asleep. Try lying on the floor or sitting in a straight backed chair with your hands in your lap. If you have time, close your eyes and focus on relaxing each part of your body one by one starting with your head and working down to your toes.

2. Begin the journey

The key to using hypnotherapy for panic attacks is to create an experience of deep calm you can revisit anytime with just a simple trigger. Start by visualizing the most relaxing environment you can imagine. For some it's a warm beach. For others a clearing in the woods near a babbling stream. Whatever your scene, make sure it's something your whole body and mind will find deeply contenting.

Next comes the most crucial part of using hypnotherapy for anxiety. Here you will begin descending step-by-step into your scene and experience of relaxation. The most effective way is to narrate this descent and record it so you listen to it at this time. If you have a good imagination, however, you may also do this part in your mind. Just be sure to take your time and don't rush through any of the steps.

3. Count down

Begin by imagining you are in a perfect peaceful garden. Make the experience as vivid as you want to prepare yourself for the journey to the truly special place you created earlier. Then picture a set on ten steps leading down from the garden to your special place. Take each step slowly, as if you a toddler trying them for the first time, counting each one. With every step tell yourself, in whatever words ring true for you, that you are getting more and more relaxed. An important part of using hypnotherapy for anxiety is to take your time and let your body and mind really feel the calm and peace you are creating.

4. Create the trigger

When you've reached the last step, you've made it to your perfect paradise. This is your special place. You are perfectly safe here and can return whenever you want. Take a moment to really hear, see and feel the deep peace of this place. The wind in the trees or the water lapping on the beach. Then put it into words. It may be something like, "I am peaceful, happy and perfectly in control of my life. I easily cope with everything that happens." Whatever words ring true for you. Then, pinch the fold of skin between your thumb and first finger on your right hand. If you're pregnant, pinch your thumb instead. Then repeat whatever word you used to express the feelings of this place: "I am peaceful, happy and perfectly in control of my life. I easily cope with everything that happens. I can relax at will simply by pinching my right hand and thinking of this place."

5. Come on back

When you're ready, return to the steps remembering the whole time that you can come back here any time you want. Count slowly from ten down to zero as you climb the steps and let the sounds of the everyday world gradually return to you. When you have returned you will be calm and relaxed. Now, the next time you feel an anxiety or panic coming on, simply pinch the fold of skin between your thumb and first finger on your right hand and you'll remember the calm and peace of your special place. With a little patience and practice, using hypnotherapy for panic attacks could be the cure for worry and anxiety for you.
